# Raumplanungsregionen

## Description

Die Raumplanungsregionen (RPR) wurden in den 60er- und 70er-Jahren von den Kantonen und den Gemeinden zur Bewältigung überkommunaler Aufgaben eingerichtet – die starke Siedlungsentwicklung dieser Jahrzehnte und die Aussicht auf ein massives Bevölkerungswachstum verlangten nach einem solchen Instrument.

Ihre Aufgabenbereiche betreffen die planerische Koordination der überörtlichen Verkehrsnetze und die technischen Infrastrukturen der Ver- und Entsorgung sowie – zumindest in früheren Jahren – die Festlegung der Bodennutzung mittels Zonenplanung. Die RPR sind in der Regel als Gemeindeverbände unter der Aufsicht der Kantone strukturiert. Meistens orientieren sie sich an einem Zentrum, und bei ihrer Abgrenzung achtete man auf funktionale Zusammenhänge. Einige kulturell-historische Grenzen sind ebenfalls berücksichtigt worden. Problematisch bei dieser Regionalisierung ist die je nach Landesteil unterschiedliche Grösse der RPR, einzelne sind gar kantonsübergreifend. Die Regionen der Kantone Aargau oder Waadt etwa sind vergleichsweise klein, diejenigen von Luzern, St. Gallen oder Wallis eher gross.

Nach 1980 haben die Raumplanungsregionen an Bedeutung verloren, da der Bund deren Aufgaben-Subventionierung stark reduziert hat. Zudem werden sie heute durch eine Vielzahl von Gemeindeverbänden mit ressortbezogenen Aufgaben wie z.B. Abwasser- oder Verkehrsverbände konkurrenziert.

The terms of use ask to name the Atlas of Switzerland and the data owners, and to keep the source references in exports, screenshots and embeds. Cite the map as:

The map has 2 variants. Levels: spatial unit → time. The `u` value of a variant selects it in the links below.

- Gemeinden
  - 2017 (2017-01-01): `u=AuIABQAA` (default)
  - 2017 (2017-01-01 – 2017-12-31): `u=AtYABQAA`

In the embed URL, `dm` sets what is shown: `e` the map with its title bar (default), `p` also the values of an object clicked on the map, `m` only the map with a button that opens it in the atlas. `ig=1` (default) lets the map react to scrolling and dragging only after a click into it, `ig=0` right away. The size can be changed in `style`.
