The user interface of the Atlas of Switzerland has been completely redesigned in collaboration with a UX agency. It has been optimized for different screen sizes (responsive design) and gesture control. For the first time, the atlas also works on mobile phones and tablets. All maps can therefore be easily shared and used on almost all devices. The base map has also been completely redesigned. Swisstopo data is used within Switzerland, while OpenStreetMap data is used outside Switzerland.

As this is a test or pre-release version, not all functions and map themes are available yet. The search function currently only allows you to search for map themes — searching for map objects within the map and for geographical names has not yet been implemented. The tools currently lack map comparison (two map windows side by side), map overlay, export, and drawing and measuring tools. These features should also be available by June 2026 at the latest.

With the launch of the new web version of the «Atlas of Switzerland», the Atlas website has been integrated directly into the web atlas. Information about previous versions of the Atlas can be found in the About us section.
Until around the end of 2026, the new web version will be operated in parallel with the «Atlas of Switzerland Online» version (desktop application), as not all maps will be available in the new version at the very beginning, especially those maps in which the third dimension plays an important role.

We would appreciate your feedback via the contact form or the «Report error» function (footer) so that we can provide a well-functioning and attractive version of «Atlas of Switzerland Web» by June 2026.
