## Description

### The proposal

The Federal Council and Parliament want to allow shops in larger train stations and airports to employ staff on Sundays, regardless of what they sell.

More and more people are shopping in station and airport stores on Sundays. However, under current labor law, these stores are only allowed to employ staff on Sundays if they offer goods and services that travelers need. The Federal Council and Parliament consider this regulation to be too restrictive. It no longer reflects the current lifestyles of large sections of the population. The labor law is therefore to be amended in specific areas. All shops in public transport hubs, i.e. in larger train stations and airports, will now be allowed to employ staff on Sundays. This right will apply regardless of the goods and services offered and the sales area.

The trade unions have launched a referendum against the bill. They fear that the Labor Law will be weakened and that Sunday will become a normal working day in the long term.

### Results

Voter turnout: 42.3%

## Variants

The map has 2 variants. Levels: spatial unit → time. The `u` value of a variant selects it in the links below.

- Cantons
  - 2005: `u=AAgAAwAA` (default)
- Communes
  - 2005: `u=AAgABQAA`

## Links

Replace `{u}` with the `u` value of a variant above, or leave out `u={u}` for the default variant. The map opens at its full extent; a link cannot set the map position.

- Short link, stays valid when the title changes: https://atlasderschweiz.ch/en/t/693/?u={u}
- Side by side with another map: https://atlasderschweiz.ch/en/comparison/?lt=693&lu={u}&rt={id of the other map}&ru={u of the other map, or leave out}

Embed in another website (allowed by the terms of use, as long as the source references stay visible):

```html
<iframe src="https://atlasderschweiz.ch/en/embed/?id=693&u={u}&dm=e&ig=1" style="border:0;width:100%;height:600px;max-width:100%;" loading="lazy" title="Thematic map 'Employment law (shop opening hours) (2005)' in the Atlas of Switzerland" allowfullscreen sandbox="allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups" allow="geolocation" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin"></iframe>
```

In the embed URL, `dm` sets what is shown: `e` the map with its title bar (default), `p` also the values of an object clicked on the map, `m` only the map with a button that opens it in the atlas. `ig=1` (default) lets the map react to scrolling and dragging only after a click into it, `ig=0` right away. The size can be changed in `style`.
