## Description

### The «energy town» label

The «energy town» label is a record of achievement for local authorities, which set out and implement a sustainable joint energy policy. Energy towns promote renewable energies and environmentally compatible mobility and support the efficient use of resources.

The «energy town» programme is operated by EnergieSchweiz and is intended as a prime example of how, with fully responsible practices, the quality of life can be improved and negative influences on climate change improved. The label represents a consistent and goal-oriented energy policy. Local authorities, which bear the «energy town» label, carry out a comprehensive process resulting in a sustainable energy, transport and environmental policy. Authorities, employers and the local population are all pulling together towards the same goal.

The «energy town» label is awarded by the independent committee of the board of «energy town» trustees. By the end of 2021 460 Swiss local authorities with a total 5.1 million inhabitants were awarded the label. The trademark is in four languages and is registered in most European countries. The local authority can use the «energy town» label for community marketing purposes.

### The European Energy Award Gold

Local authorities which have implemented at least 75% of the measures listed in the catalogue produced as part of the certification process can apply for the European Energy Award Gold once they have achieved «energy town» status. With the Gold Award «energy towns» crown their commitment to a future of sustainable energy.

The European Energy Award (EEA) is the European counterpart to the «energy town» label. The EEA is a certification process and quality management system for local authorities and towns throughout Europe which make an important contribution to energy efficiency and the increasing introduction of renewable energies.

## Variants

The map has 9 variants. Levels: time. The `u` value of a variant selects it in the links below.

- 1995: `u=ABUAAAAA`
- 2000: `u=AAIAAAAA`
- 2005: `u=AAgAAAAA`
- 2010: `u=AAEAAAAA`
- 2015: `u=AmAAAAAA`
- 2018: `u=Aw4AAAAA`
- 2019: `u=AxYAAAAA`
- 2020: `u=Ay4AAAAA`
- 2021: `u=A18AAAAA` (default)

## Links

Replace `{u}` with the `u` value of a variant above, or leave out `u={u}` for the default variant. The map opens at its full extent; a link cannot set the map position.

- Map: https://atlasderschweiz.ch/en/theme/energy-towns/?u={u}
- Short link, stays valid when the title changes: https://atlasderschweiz.ch/en/t/579/?u={u}
- Side by side with another map: https://atlasderschweiz.ch/en/comparison/?lt=579&lu={u}&rt={id of the other map}&ru={u of the other map, or leave out}

Embed in another website (allowed by the terms of use, as long as the source references stay visible):

```html
<iframe src="https://atlasderschweiz.ch/en/embed/?id=579&u={u}&dm=e&ig=1" style="border:0;width:100%;height:600px;max-width:100%;" loading="lazy" title="Thematic map 'Energy towns' in the Atlas of Switzerland" allowfullscreen sandbox="allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups" allow="geolocation" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin"></iframe>
```

In the embed URL, `dm` sets what is shown: `e` the map with its title bar (default), `p` also the values of an object clicked on the map, `m` only the map with a button that opens it in the atlas. `ig=1` (default) lets the map react to scrolling and dragging only after a click into it, `ig=0` right away. The size can be changed in `style`.
