## Description

Cette branche revêt une importance extrêmement grande dans la perspective de la compétitivité de la Suisse sur le plan international. Les banques (sociétés financières comprises) et les assurances employaient au total 252'005 personnes en 2012. La répartition géographique fait ressortir une concentration marquée des postes de travail dans les principaux centres du pays: Zurich, Bâle, Berne, Lausanne et Genève. Dans le secteur bancaire, la place financière de Lugano joue en outre un rôle important, tout comme l'axe Zurich-Winterthour dans celui des assurances.
