# Évolution actuelle des mouvements aériens par an

## Description

En 2020, quelque 1,1 million de décollages et d’atterrissages ont été recensés dans l’aviation civile suisse. Ceci représente une diminution de 24% des mouvements et même de 71% des passagers par rapport à l’année précédente. Parmi ces mouvements, seuls 166 000 relèvent du trafic de lignes et charter, qui transporte pourtant près de 97% du total des passagers.

Le trafic de lignes et charter a atteint un niveau plafond en 2000, avec 537 813 mouvements aériens. Jusqu'à la pandémie Covid 19, ce nombre a diminué d'environ 70 000 (469 667 mouvements aériens en 2019), soit une baisse de –13%. Ce phénomène est dû aux événements survenus en 2001 (attentats du 11-Septembre à New York, immobilisation de la flotte de Swissair), à la crise financière de 2008 ainsi qu’à la tendance générale vers un meilleur remplissage des avions.
Le recul du nombre de mouvements aériens s’est fait principalement aux dépens des aéroports de Zurich (–16%) et de Bâle-Mulhouse (–23%), tandis que celui de Genève renoue déjà avec une croissance soutenue depuis 2004 (+22%). Cette différence s’explique par le fait que Swissair s’était retiré en grande partie de l’aéroport de Genève dès les années 1990 pour les vols long-courriers.
