# Propriété de la forêt suisse (IFN)

## Description

La forêt suisse appartient à un grand nombre de propriétaires, environ 246 000 privés et 3 400 publics. Les propriétaires privés se divisent en propriétaires individuels et en sociétés, tandis que les propriétaires publics se répartissent entre la Confédération, les cantons, les communes politiques, les bourgeoisies et les corporations. Les propriétaires privés en possèdent environ 31 %, tandis que les 69 % restants sont dans le domaine public. Il existe de grandes différences régionales, comme le montre le graphique «Propriété de la forêt suisse».

En Suisse, la propriété forestière ne signifie cependant pas que l’on peut faire ce que l’on veut de sa forêt. La loi sur les forêts est relativement stricte, de sorte que des règles de gestion claires s’appliquent également aux propriétaires forestiers privés. En outre, quel que soit le régime de propriété, la forêt est toujours accessible librement tant qu’elle n’est pas exploitée de manière «excessive».
