Il Consiglio federale e il Parlamento si sono sempre espressi contro un divieto nazionale. A livello cantonale, San Gallo e Ticino hanno già introdotto un simile divieto, mentre altri Cantoni hanno deciso di non farlo. In numerosi Cantoni esiste il divieto di coprirsi il viso in caso di manifestazioni. ### Il progetto L’iniziativa popolare «Sì al divieto di dissimulare il proprio viso» chiede che in Svizzera nessuno possa dissimulare il proprio volto. Tale norma sarebbe applicabile in tutti i luoghi accessibili al pubblico come ad esempio per strada, negli uffici amministrativi e nei trasporti pubblici, negli stadi di calcio, nei ristoranti, nei negozi o all’aperto nella natura. Sono previste eccezioni unicamente per i luoghi di culto e per motivi inerenti alla salute, alla sicurezza, alle condizioni climatiche e alle usanze locali. Sono escluse ulteriori eccezioni ad esempio per le turiste che indossano il velo integrale. ### Il controprogetto indiretto Il Consiglio federale e il Parlamento ritengono che l’iniziativa ponga esigenze eccessive e propongono un controprogetto indiretto. Questo prevede l’obbligo di mostrare il proprio viso al rappresentante di un’autorità nei casi necessari a verificare l’identità di una persona. Il controprogetto prevede inoltre misure volte a rafforzare i diritti delle donne. Potrà entrare in vigore solo se l’iniziativa è respint. ### Risultati Il progetto è stato accettato.
