# Produzione annua di energia delle centrali nucleari

## Description

Una dipendenza sempre più marcata dalle importazioni di energie primarie, l’aumento dei prezzi del gas e del petrolio e l’impegno di ridurre le emissioni di gas a effetto serra hanno indotto a considerare con nuova attenzione il ruolo dell’energia nucleare per la produzione di elettricità, nonostante i timori nutriti da anni circa la sua sicurezza e lo smaltimento dei residui delle centrali. Alcuni stati membri hanno recentemente dato inizio alla costruzione o alla progettazione di nuovi reattori nucleari. Le centrali esistenti nell’Unione Europea forniscono il 30% della produzione globale lorda di elettricità.

In Europa vengono utilizzati principalmente i seguenti tipi di reattore:

*PWR (Pressurized Water Reactor)*
Reattore ad acqua pressurizzata.

*GCR (Gas Cooled Reactor)*
Reattore raffreddato a gas.

*BWR (Boiling Water Reactor)*
Reattore ad acqua bollente.

*PHWR (Pressurized Heavy Water Reactor)*
Reattore ad acqua pesante pressurizzata.
