## Description

Nell'ottica della competitività internazionale della Svizzera, questo settore assume un'importanza straordinaria. Nel 2012, le banche (comprese le società finanziarie) e le assicurazioni impiegavano un totale di 252'005 addetti. La struttura territoriale dei posti di lavoro evidenzia una forte concentrazione di questi rami nei centri principali del Paese: Zurigo, Basilea, Berna, Losanna e Ginevra. Assumono inoltre un ruolo importante la piazza finanziaria di Lugano per il settore bancario e l'asse Zurigo-Winterthur per quello assicurativo.
