About us

The Atlas of Switzerland – the official national atlas – was initiated in 1961 by a decision of the Federal Council and the editorship was assigned to the Institute of Cartography, today Institute of Cartography and Geoinformation , at ETH Zurich. This thematic Atlas presents the diversity of the country’s characteristic structures and processes.

The current 4th generation of the Atlas of Switzerland, consists of more than 400 digital, three-dimensional and interactive maps. The atlas can be downloaded for Windows and Apple operating systems.
