Atlas of Switzerland Web – Version 0.18.0

Atlas of Switzerland Web (AoS Web) - Version 0.18.0

October 1, 2026

With this version, the Atlas of Switzerland gets a new drawing tool, a completely reworked measuring tool and a map view that can be opened without a theme.

New Features

  • New drawing tool: Your own markers with symbols, labels, lines (with arrows and other line endings) and areas can be drawn on the map. Colors and styles can be freely adjusted, and objects can be clicked to display information about them.
  • Save, load and protect drawings: Drawings stay saved in the browser, can be exported to a file and imported again, and can be locked with a code. Drawings are not included in share links.
  • Drawings in print and export: A drawing can be included in the PDF or PNG export.
  • Reworked measuring tool: Lines, areas and circles can be measured. Several measurements are possible at the same time, measuring points can be moved, and steps can be undone. For circles, coordinates in LV95 and WGS84 can be displayed, and a measurement can be converted into a drawing object.
  • New map view without a theme: Basemap, legend and tools (measure, draw, print) are now also available without an open theme.
  • Guided tours and keyboard shortcuts: There is now a step-by-step introduction as well as keyboard shortcuts for drawing and measuring.

Improved Features

  • Automatic label placement has been improved: labels of thematic maps, drawings and measurements as well as of the basemap overlap less.
  • The selection of the print extent has been reworked and can be confirmed with the Enter key or cancelled with Esc.
  • The map controls and the map title have been rearranged, and long theme titles are displayed more clearly. The panel is animated when switching between views.

Instructions for Use
