Penal Code and military law: Prohibition of racial descrimination (1994)

Categories: State and Politics › Votes › Domestic policy

Right-wing forces had called for a referendum against the ban on racial discrimination (Anti-Racism Act) on the grounds that it restricted freedom of expression. The Anti-Racism Act provides for the punishment of discrimination on the grounds of race, ethnic origin or religion. Adoption of the bill enabled the Swiss Government to ratify the UN Convention on eliminating racial discrimination.

The proposal was accepted.
