A space with urban character comprises larger urban zones and two other space categories: municipalities with multiple orientations as well as core municipalities outside of larger urban zones.The larger urban zones represent analysis regions. The statistical recording of urban spaces has been carried out by the FSO for over a hundred years and aims to measure urbanisation as a basic phenomenon
